After working with the mineral mica for nearly two years, I decided to move on. The process of moving on is a very interesting one and, despite my being tired of ‘mica’ and despite of the fact that my vision was to just do something totally different, I discovered that I am already in the process of creating the new series and that one thing leads into another. My new work is just a next step out of many; away from mica, to a bigger picture and still in the realm of rocks, minerals and mountains. I also just love the fact that, through the process of working with mica, I realized that my favourite tools to work with are the pallet knifes. Instead of brushing the colour, I scrape it onto the surface with thin layers, many of them - which gives it the very special 3D effect and creates new, interesting colours.
My new series is called ‘Rocks and Formations ‘ and I’m already in the middle of this newly discovered and exciting process.....
Since childhood, I loved rocks. I always collected them and I’m still extremely fascinated by the layers, the shapes, and the millions of years I have in front of me when I look at one. Rocks represent evolution, creation, geometry and perfection.
