My name is Lisa Zbinden Scharlock; I was born near Basel, Switzerland. I have a passion for colours and art since I can remember. Starting in highschool, I did all kinds of experimental creative work: pottery, dying fabrics and wool with natural colours, batik, felting, a lot of knitting, sewing, painting and sculpturing.
As already a mother of 2 children, I finally made the decision to study art and started to take lessons with the Swiss artist and art therapist Madelon de Maa and I was very fortunate to be able to learn and work in her studio over a long period of time.
In 2002, together with my husband and our 3 children, I moved to BC, Canada. Here I met many different artistic and talented people. I attended different art classes and in one of them, I met Max Eliott, artist from Banff, who is a very inspiring person to me. With her, I learned the mixed media technique, which I started using for my artwork immediately.
I finally realized that I have to get real with my passion and in early summer 2006, I opened up my own studio and started to show my work at the local art shows and displayed paintings in public places and Art Galleries. In 2008 I attended the Tony Onley’s Artist Program in Wells where I discovered sculpturing.
